International Internet Day Message

 

Uganda joins the rest of the world to commemorate the International Internet Day. The theme for this year is; “Keep the Internet Open’’ which emphasizes the relevance and importance of the community’s participation in the governance of the Internet, open global standards for innovation, as well as open communications for everyone to achieve economic progress.

The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology shares the objectives of this year’s theme and is committed to supporting the availability of the internet, reduction of the internet access costs and ensuring the safety of users online. Accessibility to communication services is a fundamental human right as stipulated by the United Nations and Government of Uganda has over the years put in place mechanisms to ensure that it is upheld.
